Welcome to the wonderful world of RIM (Research-In-Motion) – a company that chunks out new products without distinguishable features in short periods of time. Each new product is just a repackaged version of its predecessor without any real innovation. A company found lacking in innovation and in delivering truly exciting features since its major breakthrough. Maybe I am just being too harsh on this company but I just really wish they offer us – the world better and more innovative products. Even though I am a Blackberry user myself, I am a huge critic of Research In Motion – maker of Blackberry.

Recently they launched a new Blackberry smartphone called Blackberry Porsche. This is named after the Porsche brand which is known for their awesome genius in making cars. They make authentic and innovative concept cars, racing cars, tractors, consumer cars and other motor related products. So I thought the new Blackberry Porsche was going to live up to the expectation of its name only to be disappointed. Again, maybe I am just being too harsh on my criticism.

Okay let’s meet the new Blackberry Porshe

That’s all you get for £1275!!! That is N(1275 * 255.2294) if you are in Nigeria. Don’t worry calculating it, it is N287,167.485. WOW!! If you are like me, am sure you’d like to go through the list again after seeing this price.

This is the more expensive than branded iPhone 4S – way more expensive. The most expensive iPhone 4S got for £250 (N63807.35) – that is £1225 more expensive. Blackberry Porsche is 5 times more expensive than iPhone 4S and it doesn’t have Siri (a built-in assistant), built-in video calling capabilities, 8 megapixels camera, up to 8 hours battery life on 3G and up to 200 hours battery life on standby!! Now this is definitely a joke – a funny disaster. This is just a rip-off. Why will I pay for something with a price 5 times more that a product 5 times better than it? I’d better put it this way iPhone 4S is five times (or more) better than Blackberry Porsche but five times cheaper than Blackberry Porsche. Blackberry App World store is also just a small fraction of the iTunes App store.

Maybe there’s something special RIM isn’t telling us about this phone – there got to be something but this is just insane.

RIM has been facing serious challenges for some time now including the recent blackout of their services, their CEO/Co-founder stepping down/out, better innovative products like iPhone 4S amongst other issues. I think this new phone might either break them or bend them. Either way, I don’t see this new phone as a positive forward step for RIM or do you?
